Kona Coffee Roasters (East Village)

・ last updated: 11/28/2023 by Cliffton ChinThis was the second coffee shop I ever studied at! This is one of three Kona Coffee Roaster locations in Manhattan. Similar to its namesake (Kona refers to a type of coffee beans grown on the Big Island in Hawaii), this place has a sleepy Hawaiian vibe punctuated every so often with the sound of a blender. It feels like everyone sitting in this café has a laptop; the café has large wooden tables that everyone kindly shares with each other. It also seems to be the oldest Kona Coffee Roaster between the three locations. The owners seemed to design this place to accommodate people with laptops, since many of the outlets have wall-mounted power strips plugged into them to increase the outlets for everyone to plug into.
Some highlights
- This coffee shop seems equidistant between Union Square, Washington Park, and Chinatown
- Very laptop friendly
